You truly come to Christ with what you have, and then the Holy Spirit begins to work in you, in every area of your life. He will gradually transform our character and guide our decisions for His glory.

It all comes down to having the mind of Christ—no longer living in my own will, but in the will of God. When sin no longer rules, you have the power to say no. I know there will always be temptation, a weakness we will always have to deal with in our lives. But with the mind of Christ and His Word as our sword, we can have the character to say: this is not what I want.
